The pharmacological treatment of neoplasia is based on the use of chemotherapeutic substances. Chemotherapeutic agents can cause acute and chronic toxicity even at therapeutic doses. For this reason their overdose puts a patient’s life at severe risk. This work presents an unusual fatal case of overdose subsequent to an accidental massive administration of Vinblastine (90 mg instead of 9 mg), slow bolus (five minutes), to a 33-year-old woman who suffered from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma

SUMMARY A case ofchromophobe renal cell carcinoma is reported in a 73 year-old man. Light microscopically, the tumor was composed of polygonal cells with a slightly eosinophilic and a fine reticular pattern, and a reaction of the cytoplasm with Hale's acid iron colloid. Ultrastructural analysis showed membranous microuesicles within the tumor cells, with degenerated mitochondria. Immunohistochemical profile against intermediate filaments was positive to cytokeratin 18 and negative against uimentin. Flow cytometry and cytogenetics revealed a predominant bypertriploid population. Few cases have been published with flow cytometry and cytogenetic findings. We report a new case.

How do young offenders describe their parents?

The study examined (1) what dimensions of parenting would emerge from retrospective reports of parental behaviour, and (2) whether childhood family violence and parental problems are associated with later perceptions of parenting among 89 young male Finnish inmates. The inmates completed the Parent Behaviour Inventory (PBI) and the Conflict Tactics Scales (CTS). Data on childhood family violence and parental problems were obtained from two files. The PBI yielded three factors and the CTS two factors for both mothers and fathers. The Psychopathy Checklist and non-violent offender groups

Cleckley’s concept of psychopathy includes characteristics such as superficial charm, unreliability, and affective poverty. In this study, the Psychopathy Checklist (PCL) and personality questionnaires (MMPI, CPI, EPQ, and SSS) were used to assess 92 non-violent male offenders. The variable-based approach was applied in order to study the structure of the PCL and the relationships between the PCL, the PCL factors and the personality questionnaire scores. The results indicated that the personality scale scores failed to correlate positively with the PCL score, with the exception of the MMPI hypomania score. Clarithromycin in the Management of Chronic Rhinosinusitis: Preliminary Results of a Possible Its New Use

The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of prolonged therapy with low-dose clarithromycin in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with polyps (CRSwP) after endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). A total of 10 patients with CRSwP were identified and subjected to bilateral ESS. In post-operative patients they were treated with nasal wash with saline solution and steroid sprays (beclomethasone). Anatomical basis for the interposition of a gastric pouch between the ileum and the anus after total proctocolectomy.

After a total proctocolectomy, ileoanal continuity is achieved by an ileal pouch–anal anastomosis. This anastomosis is not possible when the ileum cannot reach the anus. To avoid definitive ileostomy in this circumstance, we devised a gastric pouch, taken from the left half of the vertical portion of the stomach, vascularized by the right gastroepiploic pedicle, then interposed it between the ileum and the anus. Osteoblastic osteogenic sarcoma in a 13-month-old girl.

Summary Osteosarcoma is exceptional in early periods of life. Therefore osteosarcomas involvingthe bones of the hand are extremely rare. We present a case of an osteogenic sarcoma involving the second metacarpal bone of a 13-month-old girl who has been remaining free of disease, after treatment — radial amputation and chemotherapy pre- and post-operative-, for a period of 10 years in the follow-up.
